PNW Hullabaloo 2024

Program & Schedule

The theme for Hullabaloo in 2024 is Scout Olympics, exemplifying the olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship. Each section will be embodying the theme in different ways, but it should a lot of fun for everyone!

Hullabaloo Schedule

We expect scouts to take part in the Hullabaloo program to the fullest extent possible—and we have worked hard to create a fun and “scouty” experience for them. Family members are also welcome and invited to participate in all aspects of Hullabaloo.

Of course, if you or your scout become tired and need a nap or some “down time,” that’s fine, too. We’ll be happy to see you rejoin the activities afterward, fully refreshed.  We also have some free time built into the schedule, during which we will have optional activities available.

The Quartermaster Store will be open in the lodge throughout the weekend, with OSG and outdoor items available for all your scouting needs.

The evening campfire on Saturday is not to be missed! All attendees are invited to share a song, skit, joke, or other talent in the show.

Spirit and Recognition

During a scouting event of this size, you may see anything from the presentation of simple, “on the spot” awards to more complex recognitions, investitures, and crossovers. Please enjoy these opportunities to enter into the spirit of OSG scouting. These are an important and meaningful part of our program.

During Hullabaloo, simple awards will be given to those who participate in various activities. You may see special “golden woggles” being passed around. These are to recognize particularly scouty behavior and can be worn for a time then passed on again upon witnessing another scout doing a good turn.

In addition, small buttons of several different designs will be handed out by Leaders when they see a Scout doing a good turn! If non-Leader adults happen to see a Scout doing a good turn, please feel free to ask a Leader to award that Scout a button. This encourages every Scout to do their own personal best and be recognized for it.

At Friday craft time Scouts can make bracelets with their group colors to trade with Scouts from other groups.

Section Specific Guidelines

Chipmunks

Chipmunks are welcome to take part in the craft table activities when they are open. We will also have preschool-appropriate toys available at "Chippie Town" in family camp. Chipmunks must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Otters

Otters will be camping with their families in Family Camp. There will be planned activities in blocks on Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning. Otters will eat with their groups/families in Family Camp.

Timberwolves

Timberwolves may choose to camp on their own or with a friend in Timberville, or they may stay in Family Camp with their families. If your TImberwolf is camping in Timberville, you will need to check in with the Timberville Camp Warden when you arrive, as well as check out when you leave. All tenting arrangements must be approved by all families involved. Timberwolves will eat with their groups/families in Family Camp.

Pathfinders

Pathfinders arrive one day earlier than the rest of the sections, and camp on their own in Pathfinder Camp. All Pathfinders will be divided into patrols who will scout together for the weekend. You will be given your patrol assignment ahead of time for planning purposes. Patrols are responsible for planning and preparing their own meals.

Rovers and Adults

Rover Camp is open to all adults at Hullabaloo, but we ask that it remain a child-free zone. Adults whose children are camping on their own in Timberville or Pathfinder Camp may choose to camp in Rover Camp or in Family Camp, depending on their preference, and may eat with their groups or opt to prepare their own meals.
